What the LOOT poster should have been like

A nod to the traditional poster design. Wonder what would have happened if the real posters were like these!

Visa Girl invitation cards

Invitation_a5-1

Invitation card design for an upcoming feature film titled "Visa Girl."

The invitation card reflects the essence of the film by using the
design of Nepal's passport as the theme of the invitation card. This
is the first time I've taken a real-life element and tried to fuse it
with my dash of creativity.

The card came out really creative and was applauded for the twisted
sense of point it tried to make – however, was received very
negatively by the media.

New visiting cards

341015_2538489619709_117768011

Not an insanely original idea, but the multicoloured visiting cards have come out quite a spectacle!
22 different colour cards just came out from the printers yesterday.

"Highway" needs you

When was the last time you watched a world-class Nepali cinema?

I would say it has been a while. I watched the film "Acharya" almost a year and a half after I watched "Ek Din Ek Raat." I am not one of those avid film watchers, due to my difficult schedules and all that. But more than just an average film watcher, I believe my reason to watch more Nepali film has increased because of the fact that I've decided to take a plunge into mainstream Nepali cinema as a graphic artist and into independent filmmaking as a screenwriter and a director (well, the latter being just an enthusiastic move.) I am definitely thinking of grabbing some copies of DVDs (downloading torrent is always illegal and I will never endorse that) from the market and watching them during the Tihar recess.

Come August 2011: I come in touch with an incredible bunch of people producing this off-the-beat feature film called "Highway." The premise and the setting of the film interests me, and I dig in deeper to know more about the film. I was happy it was directed by the same Deepak Rauniyar whose film Chaukaith I saw created quite a "thing" at the KIMFF in Kathmandu. I guessed it would be quite an exciting adventure to become a part of this film, and eventually I did land up doing the publicity designs for this much awaited film. And I can tell you the pride and excitement I feel to call myself a crew member of this wonderful, wonderful project called "Highway." The feeling is just so enthralling.

But, the film has not been completed yet. There are quite a number of tasks remaining, such as the color correction, sound design and nitty-gritty post-production details. So Highway is inviting everyone to help complete the film by funding the film through a Kickstarter project. However, the goal of raising USD 30,000 hasn't completed as of today (24 October 2011). So it would be terrific if you could take a moment to check out renowned actor/producer/director Danny Glover's message on why you should help fund this incredible project called "Highway."

If you can become a part of this project by helping fund it, Highway, in turn, promises to deliver you an international-class Nepali film you've always wanted all this while

Oops, someone isn't happy!

Hmmm looks like somebody, who goes by the name Nepaliangelo isn't very happy with the coverage on last week's Republica's The Week.

Here's what the person had to say about the feature in last week's The Week.
http://theweek.myrepublica.com/details.php?news_id=34629

Dear <Reporter's Name>,

I wonder what do you mean by "and he has dreams bigger than any 25-year-old." Seems like you haven't met much of the 25yrs old people. the whole article looks like designer's promotional material.

That's not what I'm bothered with your article. How could you say "And it is a revolution in today's world of graphic designing."? Do you even know what today's world of graphic designing looks like? Do you even know there are Nepali Designers working here in Nepal for Start Ups in Silicon Vallley?
You should first get a good idea of Graphic Designing, where it is now and where we are as Nepali Graphic Designers.
I wonder when we'll have proper Film Critic doing a movie review and someone who has got a good idea of Design/Art write columns on Designer/Artist.
God Save Us All!

Another person, in my Milnu profile had to say that I am the most "discusting" designer of all.

Few months ago, another person, the owner of KGUFF blog had to say that "...it is not easy to stamp ‘Worst’ or ‘Best’ without having a credible judgment criteria and a viable boundary in selection." regarding a list of 10 worst websites I published in my blog. The person was utterly offended by my list, and wrote and entire blog post regarding my post.

With negative criticisms finally coming my way, I see that this thing is finally headed towards a direction.
